British India's Wilderness Courier

Under Review

Description: This vintage 2 AS (two annas) definitive postage stamp was issued by the British colonial administration of India during the reign of King George VI. The primary rectangular design is printed in a vivid vermilion-red monochrome ink, divided into two distinct thematic frames. The large frame on the left illustrates a "Dak Runner," a traditional postal courier shown in stride across a rugged, remote trail while carrying a mail satchel over his shoulder and a staff equipped with bells to ward off predators. The smaller frame on the right houses an elegant profile portrait of King George VI facing left, adorned in formal military regalia and wearing the Imperial Crown of India. The country title "INDIA POSTAGE" is cleanly emblazoned across the upper left margin, and the precise denomination label "2 AS" anchors the lower right corner.
