Description: This highly detailed bluish-green definitive stamp from India depicts a historic sandstone sculpture of a seated Bodhisattva. The central artwork features the figure elegantly posed in a relaxed royal posture on a decorative, low platform decorated with traditional patterns. Sharp horizontal lines fill the backdrop within a simple double-ruled rectangular border, while the top left corner displays the clear word "POSTAGE". The lower region balances the "1 A" face value in western numbers on the left and its corresponding Hindi denomination text in Devanagari script on the right, framing the country name "INDIA" printed across the bottom center directly beneath a labeled "BODHISATTVA" description banner. A light, slanted black handstamp cancellation mark subtly cuts across the upper right edge to denote its regular passage through the domestic post system.

Circa: 1949-1952
