Irish Commodore John Barry Commemorative

Under Review

Description: The vertical format stamp exhibits a finely engraved monochromatic purple or violet illustration depicting a full-length statue of the naval officer standing resolutely in his historical uniform. Clad in a long formal officer's coat, tricorn hat, and breeches, the military figure leans dynamically against a large wooden ship anchor wrapped in heavy hawser rope at his feet. The name "JOHN BARRY" is neatly typeset in block lettering within the upper-right corner. A dual-lined ornamental frame borders the design, anchoring the bottom margin with the Gaelic country name "ÉIRE" nestled precisely between two square panels displaying the "3p" threepence face value denomination. A bold, circular black ink town postmark slices across the center of the portrait, leaving a distinct cancellation curve over his coat torso.
