The Turul and Holy Crown Kingdom Definitve

Under Review

Description: This iconic postage stamp from the Kingdom of Hungary features a beautifully detailed allegorical design centered on the Holy Crown of Hungary, also famously known as the Crown of Saint Stephen. The historic crown is immediately recognizable by its distinctively slanted cross resting on the upper dome. Hovering directly above the regalia with outspread wings is the Turul, a legendary divine bird of prey that acts as a powerful national symbol of origin and power in Hungarian mythology. The central vignette is framed by an elegant arched design flanked by detailed laurel branches curling upward along both lower corners. The uppercase inscription "MAGYAR KIR. POSTA" (Hungarian Royal Post) arches elegantly across the top frame, while the bold "10 FILLÉR" denomination token anchors the lower border layout securely within decorative arrowheads. A heavy, dark black ink circular cancel sweeps across the face of the stamp, confirming its active postal duty during the early twentieth century.

Circa: Early 20th Century
Condition: Used.

Notes:

While the long-running "Turul" design series first debuted at the turn of the century in 1900, this specific 10 Fillér carmine-rose denomination featuring a vertical "Double Cross" security watermark was issued by the royal post between 1913 and 1916.
