Monarch of the Marshlands

Under Review

Description: This beautifully designed, diamond-framed stamp features a face value of 60 fillér and depicts a Western Marsh Harrier (Circus aeruginosus) standing on a weathered branch. The bird is meticulously illustrated with realistic dark brown and golden-buff patterned plumage, a sharply hooked beak, and bright yellow talons. Set against a warm amber-yellow background, a soft purple sprig of native flora adds a pop of natural contrast behind the raptor. The bird's Hungarian common name, "BARNA RÉTIDÉZSA" (with an intentional printing typo omitting the 'H' from Rétihéja), is clearly printed at the upper apex, complemented by the scientific name running vertically along the right border. The left and right corners are anchored with bold, vertically oriented text reading "LÉGIPOSTA" (Airmail), while the lower segment features the country name "MÁGYAR POSTA" over a clean artist signature reading "GÓZÁN LAJOS."
