Description: This vintage postage stamp from the Hungarian People's Republic features an engraved illustration of the historic Rákóczi Castle in Sárospatak. Printed in a vibrant, monochromatic rose-red ink palette, the composition presents a scenic view of the fortress layout, highlighting the sheer stone facade of the Great Palace wing, the prominent medieval Red Tower, and surrounding courtyard trees. The location identifier "SÁROSPATAK" is vertically oriented along the upper-right corner margins. The face value "60f" (60 fillér) is cleanly stylized in the bottom-left corner field, featuring a small hook element curving upward from the numeral zero. The formal state postal inscription "MAGYAR POSTA" stretches horizontally across the base frame within a dark rectangular panel.

Notes:

The castle depicted on the design served as the primary residence and political headquarters for the influential Rákóczi family. It was inside these exact stone walls that Prince Francis Rákóczi II plotted his famous war of independence against Habsburg rule from 1703 to 1711, cementing the structure as an iconic cradle of Hungarian national liberty.
