Hungary Patrona Hungariae Definitive

Under Review

Description: This original, postally used definitive issue from Hungary carries a face value of 1 Pengő. The finely engraved vignette showcases a classic depiction of the Patrona Hungariae, portraying the Virgin Mary as the Patroness and Queen of Heaven. She is crowned with the iconic Holy Crown of Hungary while holding the infant Jesus, who grasps a patriarchal double cross. An ornate banner arches overhead bearing the country name "MAGYARORSZÁG", while the Latin phrase "PATRONA HUNGARIAE" loops cleanly under her seated figure. The design is finished with the numeric value "1" and currency indicator "PENGŐ" along the bottom border, all bound within a highly detailed frame featuring crisp perimeter perforations and a partial black circular postmark cancel.
