Description: This vintage definitive postage stamp from the Hungarian People's Republic features an engraved architectural illustration of the Csepeli Postahivatal (Csepel Post Office) in Budapest. Printed in a vibrant monochromatic rose-red ink palette, the composition captures a wide horizontal perspective of the facility's modern facade, emphasizing its clean geometric framing, glass curtain entryway panels, and tiny silhouettes of citizens gathered outside. The denomination "60f" (60 fillér) is cleanly positioned within the upper-right field corner. The descriptive facility location text "CSEPELI POSTAHIVATAL" is explicitly lined along the top inner margin header, while the solid state postal inscription "MAGYAR POSTA" forms a continuous anchor block across the entire dark baseline panel. A light, vertical machine wave postmark cancellation faintly streaks down the upper middle portion of the perforated paper grid.

Circa: Mid 20th Century

Condition: Used - Hinged

Notes:

This specific 60-fillér issue holds a unique place within Hungary's expansive "Buildings of the Five-Year Plan" definitive stamp family. While the rest of the multi-year series celebrated heavy manufacturing foundries, schools, and hospitals to broadcast state industrial progress, this particular design was a proud self-reference, honoring the literal modernization of the national postal and logistics networks.

Csepel (the 21st district of Budapest) was the industrial powerhouse of the capital during the Soviet era, housing massive steelworks, iron foundries, and heavy machinery plants. Erecting a large, architecturally advanced post office in this specific zone was a deliberate political effort to supply its densely populated, blue-collar labor force with advanced civic infrastructure.
