Greece National Costumes Trikeri Peasant Dress

Under Review

Description: This stamp features a full-length illustration of a woman posed in profile while wearing a layered folk dress from the village of Trikeri. The attire combines a deep blue base gown with a pink patterned tunic over-garment, finished with a heavily fringed yellow apron and a matching yellow headscarf. Tucked into the upper left corner is the identifier "ΤΡΙΚΕΡΙ (ΧΩΡΙΚΗ)" which names the rural costume variation, while the year "1972" is marked on the upper right side. The lower border clearly shows the dual-language country inscription "ΕΛΛΑΣ - HELLAS" positioned right next to the face value denomination of 6.50 drachmae.

Circa: 1972

Condition: Used - Hinged

Notes:

This 6.50 drachmae value belongs to the highly popular and visually striking "Greek National Costumes" definitive series issued in the early 1970s. The traditional Trikeri garment depicted is historically significant because it blends mainland Byzantine design elements with the islander flair of the Aegean, reflecting Trikeri's unique geographical isolation at the tip of the Pelion peninsula.
