Description: The central illustration depicts the ancient stone facade of the Protaton Church in Karyes, the administrative center and oldest surviving church on Mount Athos. Flanking the architectural vignette are broad borders containing Greek text, with "ΕΛΛΑΣ" (Hellas) running vertically on the left and the denomination "ΔΡΑΧ. 1" (1 Drachma) oriented on the right. A prominent horizontal inscription reading "ΑΓ. ΟΡΟΣ 963-1963" (Holy Mountain 963-1963) runs along the top inner edge to designate the millennium milestone. The specimen displays standard comb perforations and features a partial black circular handstamp cancellation from postal processing.
