Description: This standard definitive postage stamp from Greece depicts Iris, the winged messenger goddess of Olympus. She is rendered in a classical standing pose, holding a staff while looking over her shoulder, flanked on both sides by fluted Doric columns. The word "ΕΛΛΑΣ" (Hellas) is inscribed across the architrave at the top of the design, and the face value of 20 lepta is cleanly framed along the bottom banner. The entire design emphasizes Greece's profound cultural connection to classical antiquity and mythological storytelling.
