Crown of Republican Hope

Under Review

Description: This vintage definitive postage stamp from the Republic of France showcases the "Marianne de Muller" portrait printed in a striking monochromatic carmine-red ink palette. The composition positions a right-facing profile of Marianne, the national personification of France, wearing a classical crown of oak and laurel leaves rather than her traditional Phrygian cap. Bold geometric rays from a rising sun emanate from the lower-right background grid. The face value "25f" (25 francs) sits clearly inside the upper-right corner frame, balanced on the left margin by the vertical inscription "POSTES". The formal state designation "REPUBLIQUE FRANÇAISE" forms a clean horizontal banner stretching across the lower base, while the name of designer Louis Charles Muller is subtly credited along the left inner vertical border line. A large, clean circular date stamp postmark from Bonnetable dated March 20, 1959, is struck perfectly over the center of the design.
