Sacred Trials of Saint Vincent

Under Review

Description: This vintage 25 CTS (céntimos) charity fiscal label is an additional horizontal installment from the mid-century Spanish ecclesiastical fundraising series issued in the city of Zaragoza. The central horizontal vignette is printed in a dark purple monochrome ink, reproducing a historical painting titled Martirio de San Vicente (The Martyrdom of Saint Vincent). The scene illustrates the legendary trials of the patron saint, showing an assembly of classical figures and executioners surrounding the central deacon during his early fourth-century persecution. Two highly ornate, classical columns printed in a bright terracotta-red tone frame the left and right borders of the composition. Bold red text bars run horizontally across the top and bottom margins, containing the inscriptions "PRO-SEMINARIO" and "ZARAGOZA" centered between the numeric denomination on the left and the mandatory phrase "SIN VALOR POSTAL" (No Postal Value) on the right.
