Description: This vintage postage stamp was issued by the Deutsche Bundespost (West Germany) as part of the esteemed "Bedeutende Deutsche" (Distinguished Germans) definitive series. It showcases a woodcut-style portrait of Johann Wolfgang von Goethe (1749–1832), the celebrated poet, playwright, and novelist. The image features a solid light-brown frame with the word "BUNDES" running across the top margin and "POST" on the right margin, creating the complete name "Deutsche Bundespost". The lower frame is anchored by a large, prominent "50" (Pfennig) denomination, while Goethe's name is vertically inscribed in small letters just to the right of his portrait. This specimen has been postally used, indicated by the black cancellation lines running down the left side.
