Description: This red-carmine and buff postage stamp was issued by the German Realm (Deutsches Reich) during the height of the 1923 hyperinflation crisis. The central design features an intricate circular rosette pattern, often called the "Basket" (Korbdeckel) pattern, which serves as a security background. The stamp displays a massive face value composed of a large central digit 5 superimposed over the word "MILLIONEN", further reinforced along the bottom border with the numeric denomination 5 000 000 M (5 Million Marks). The country name "Deutsches Reich" is inscribed along the upper border in traditional Gothic Fraktur script.
