Third Reich - The Wartime Würzburg Cancellation

Under Review

Description: This is an authentic definitive postage stamp issued by Nazi Germany (Deutsches Reich) during the Second World War. The monochrome design features the fine line-engraved profile portrait of Adolf Hitler facing right, set against a solid cross-hatched background box.The denomination "15" is placed symmetrically in both upper corners, and the lower border bears the state title "DEUTSCHES REICH" in a sharp serif font. This circulated specimen features a heavy, dark circular postal cancellation mark. The inner ring and text arc beautifully across the center, revealing the clear uppercase letters "...ZBURG..." right over the ear and jawline.

Circa: 1941 - 1945

Condition: Used

Notes:

Finding a Würzburg cancellation on a mid-war stamp adds sharp historical poignancy. Würzburg was an administrative center during the war, but on March 16, 1945, a massive British air raid destroyed over 80% of the city, including its historic post offices and archives.
