The "Joint Issue" (Gemeinschaftsausgabe): Following the collapse of the Nazi regime, the Allied powers needed a neutral, non-fascist postal system to get the country running again. This design was jointly approved and utilized across the American, British, and Soviet occupation zones to replace Hitler-head stamps.
