Description: This is an authentic definitive postage stamp issued by the German Democratic Republic (DDR) as part of the famous Five-Year Plan socialist propaganda series. The underlying chocolate-brown base stamp is the 84 Pfennig issue depicting an idealized "Socialist Family"—a father, mother, and child looking ahead in unity. The background features the historic Hochhaus an der Weberwiese skyscraper in East Berlin alongside a flying peace dove. To adjust for new postal regulations, the state applied a heavy black overprint directly onto the face. A bold, thick "X" completely voids the original "84" denomination in the upper-right corner, while a massive numeral "70" is stamped dead-center over the family's torsos. A partial wavy-line ink cancel is visible cutting across the upper-left corner.
