Description: This is an authentic definitive postage stamp issued by the German Democratic Republic (DDR) as part of the famous Five-Year Plan socialist propaganda series. Printed in a rich steel-blue ink, the dynamic vignette captures the dramatic hull of a massive ocean-going cargo vessel or passenger ship perched on a wooden launch slipway, dominated by a prominent anchor icon.A crowd of tiny festive workers gathers on a decorated viewing platform to the left to watch the launch. The denomination 50 sits boldly in the top right. The bottom right features the series' signature "5" emblem nestled in laurel leaves. The lower margin carries the bold state inscription "DEUTSCHE DEMOKRATISCHE REPUBLIK", flanked by the artists' signatures E. GRUNER and K. WOLF. The stamp is postmarked with a clean series of parallel vertical ink lines.
