Description: This is an official postage stamp (Dienstmarke) from the German Democratic Republic (DDR). Printed in a distinct reddish-brown shade, the design highlights the centralized socialist coat of arms. A massive worker's hammer is superimposed over a geometric draftsman's compass. This core image sits enclosed within paired ears of rye, tied at the baseline with a patterned ribbon. The top text announces "DEUTSCHE DEMOKRATISCHE REPUBLIK". The base displays the functional title "DIENSTMARKE" bordered on both sides by the 70 Pfennig denomination. This specimen has been postmarked via an authentic circular ink cancellation, with part of the date text visibly slicing across the left margin and top text.
