Description: This is an authentic official postage stamp (Dienstmarke) issued by the German Democratic Republic (DDR / East Germany). Printed in a rich dark violet-purple ink, the design prominently centers the early State Emblem of East Germany. A worker's hammer is layered symmetrically over a technical draftsman's compass, fully surrounded by two thick wreaths of rye tied at the base with a striped ribbon. The top text panel explicitly proclaims "DEUTSCHE DEMOKRATISCHE REPUBLIK". The lower frame displays the operational title "DIENSTMARKE" bordered on both sides by the 15 Pfennig denomination. A partial circular ink cancellation mark clips the bottom-left corner, trailing off the edge of the perforation teeth.
