East Germany (DDR) The Healing Waters of Magdeburg

Under Review

Description: This is an authentic definitive postage stamp issued by the German Democratic Republic (DDR) as part of the initial Five-Year Plan propaganda series. Printed in a deep dark grey (almost sepia) ink, the scene captures the peaceful architecture of the famous spa and sanatorium at Bad Elster. It portrays relaxed citizens strolling amidst manicured park trees and therapeutic fountains. The text along the upper margin reads "ELSTER BAD DER WERKTÄTIGEN" (Bad Elster Spa of the Working People). The denomination 20 sits boldly in the top-left corner, while the lower-right corner anchors the signature "5" Five-Year Plan emblem flanked by wheat stalks. The lower margin displays the bold state name "DEUTSCHE DEMOKRATISCHE REPUBLIK". This spectacular specimen features a razor-sharp, text-perfect circular cancellation mark reading "MAGDEBURG" wrapping across the lower right frame.
