Naval Supply Branch Insignia

Under Review

Material: Cloth

Size: 50mm

Description: This item is an authentic modern German Navy (Deutsche Marine) trade specialty sleeve patch (Verwendungsabzeichen) worn by enlisted personnel and non-commissioned officers. Measuring exactly 50mm in diameter, the insignia features a machine-embroidered yellow-gold design over a dark navy blue felted wool backing pad. The central motif superimposes a classic bitted key horizontally across the shank of a stylized clear anchor, which is the official regulatory emblem designating the Logistik und Stabsdienst (Logistics and Staff/Administrative Service, historically known as the 60-series Verwendungsreihe) branch. The tight satin-stitch embroidery gives the symbols a crisp, raised profile, while the reverse remains flat fabric, designed to be sewn directly onto the sleeve of the dark blue service dress tunic or jumper.

Circa: Post 1956

Notes:

The symbolism of the anchor paired with a key holds centuries of maritime tradition, representing the secure safekeeping of supplies, provisions, and naval records. In German naval slang, veterans affectionately refer to the administrators and logisticians who wear this badge as Schreiberlinge (scribblers) or Zahlenknechte (number crunchers), honoring their vital role in keeping ships stocked and personnel paid.
