Communist Presidential Portrait

Under Review

Description: This vintage, finely engraved dull violet-brown definitive stamp from Czechoslovakia displays a prominent forward-facing portrait bust of Klement Gottwald. He is rendered in sharp, formal business attire complete with a patterned necktie, captured using intense horizontal line-hatching techniques across the right hemisphere background. Nested within a clean single line framework, the top margin features the bold text country indicator "ČESKOSLOVENSKO", countered by the prominent face value "1.00" resting flush inside the lower right field. A dramatic, looping black ink postal handstamp cancellation curves heavily across the top left corner, containing the historic date marking "V. 54 - 18" superimposed over the ruler's forehead to verify its legitimate travel through state mail logistics.

Circa: 1948

Condition: Used - Hinged

Notes:

Klement Gottwald served as the prominent leader of the Communist Party of Czechoslovakia, ascending to the presidency following the 1948 coup d'état, which marked a massive shift toward Soviet-aligned governance.

The stunning, micro-lined texture throughout his portrait layout was hand-carved onto primary steel production plates by Jindra Schmidt, a widely legendary master craftsman responsible for most of the nation's high-value mid-century definitive profiles.
