Description: This beautiful olive-brown engraved stamp from Czechoslovakia features a detailed oval-framed portrait of the famous Czech violinist and composer, Josef Slavík. He is depicted in early 19th-century attire holding his violin, flanked by a laurel branch symbol of excellence and a bold "75h" denomination. The lower banner clearly displays his name alongside his life dates, spanning from 1806 to 1833. A circular postal cancellation mark runs across the lower portion, showing its historical commercial usage.

Circa: 1953

Condition: Used - Hinged

Notes:

Niccolò Paganini himself was so highly impressed by Slavík's extraordinary technical brilliance and composition skills that he famously stated the young musician made the world tremble.

The stamp was intricately designed by the famous artist Josef Liesler, a celebrated Czechoslovak painter and graphic designer whose distinct portrait style made him one of the most prolific stamp creators in the nation's history.
