Czechoslovaks Operating Heavy Lathes

Under Review

Description: This vintage 75 h (75 haléřů) definitive postage stamp was issued by the Czechoslovak Republic as part of a mid-century "Promotion of Czechoslovak Products" series highlighting the country's heavy industrial sectors. The horizontal monochrome illustration is rendered in deep sepia-black ink against a warm cream backdrop, portraying a skilled machinist in overalls focusing on a massive industrial lathe machine. The text "ČESKOSLOVENSKO" curves uniformly across the top margin, while the large denomination "75 h" stands out in a clean sans-serif font in the upper right quadrant. The side of the machinery gear housing clearly features the iconic embossed "ŠKODA" manufacturing logo emblem. Running horizontally along the bottom margin is the inspiring Czech motto "SLOUŽÍM VLASTI DOBRYMI OBRÁBĚCÍMI STROJI," which translates to "I serve the homeland with good machine tools.

Circa: 1950s

Condition: Used - Hinged

Notes:

The explicit depiction of a Škoda manufacturing lathe machine serves as a proud nod to the historic Škoda Works heavy industrial complex based in Plzeň, which stood as one of Europe's most prolific engineering and armament factories during the mid-20th century.
