Signal of Civil Construction

Under Review

Description: This vintage definitive postage stamp from the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic features an intricate line engraving of a Stavební dělník (Construction Worker) signaling a crane operator on a bustling building site. Printed in a rich monochromatic forest-green ink palette, the centered composition presents a focused laborer wearing a protective cap, holding a leveling rod or tool in his left hand while raising his right arm to direct a massive concrete bucket suspended from an overhead cable hook. In the lower-left background field, two auxiliary workers are shown actively smoothing out freshly poured building foundations. The country name "ČESKOSLOVENSKO" spans across the upper border frame, with the low face value "15h" denoting 15 haléřů positioned in the upper right. The small designer credit along the lower border layout reads "J. C. VONDROUŠ".

Circa: 1954-1958

Condition: Used - Hinged

Notes:

This 15-haléřů issue belongs to Czechoslovakia’s iconic 1954 "Professions" (Pracující lid) definitive set. This particular series was circulated extensively to honor the everyday working class—deliberately celebrating builders, foundry workers, spinners, and miners rather than state politicians to underscore the communist administration’s focus on heavy infrastructure and physical reconstruction.
