Curaçao Princess Juliana Red Cross Semi-Postal

Under Review

Description: This striking semi-postal airmail stamp from the territory of Curaçao exhibits a central green portrait vignette depicting Princess Juliana of the Netherlands. The likeness is suspended within a cartouche lined by a wavy, flowing border rendered in the classic red, white, and blue hues of the Dutch national flag. The upper left corner displays a bright red Geneva Cross glowing with radiating light beams, adjacent to the bold country name "CURAÇAO" printed at the top right. Framed along the bottom area is the Dutch term "LUCHT POST" (Airmail), positioned directly above the split denomination values of 40 cents for standard postal transit and a 50 cents surtax earmarked for charity.

Circa: 1944

Condition: Used

Notes:

The American Bank Note Company printed this specialized wartime series in New York during the German occupation of the Netherlands in World War II. This specific 40c + 50c green issue is part of an eight-stamp semi-postal set launched simultaneously to raise vital relief funds for the Dutch Red Cross.
