50th Anniversary of the Chinese Postal Service

Under Review

Description: This violet commemorative stamp celebrates the 50th Anniversary of the Directorate General of Posts (1896–1946), marking a half-century since the Qing Dynasty established the modern national postal system. The intricate engraving displays a "Modes of Transport" theme, symbolizing the reach of the mail service across the vast nation. A steamship cuts through waves on the left, a steam locomotive charges forward on the right, and biplanes soar above a central globe highlighting the map of China. The design is framed by a geometric border, with the commemorative Chinese text "郵政總局成立五十週年紀念" (Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Directorate General of Posts) scrolling across the bottom banner. The face value is 100 Yuan, denoted by the Chinese characters "壹佰圓" in the top right and the Western numerals "100.00" (styled with small, underlined cents digits) in the top left.

Circa: 1947

Condition: Unused - Hinged

Notes:

The date "1896" refers to the year the Guangxu Emperor officially sanctioned the creation of the Imperial Postal Service, transitioning it from a customs-run agency to a national institution.
