Material: Cloth
Size: 63mm W x 63mm H
Design: This artifact is an official trade qualification or skill proficiency sleeve patch issued by the Canadian Armed Forces. The square-cut insignia features two stylized, traditional service rifles meticulously crossed in an "X" configuration. The weapons are expertly rendered with dense, silver-white rayon or nylon thread embroidery, which is set tightly against a dark black or deep navy wool-felt melton cloth backing plate displaying characteristic micro-fibers along its raw, un-rimmed border edges.
Circa: mid to late 20th Century
Notes:
Worn on the sleeve of service dress and battledress uniforms to identify a qualified marksman. Variants were also issued to cadet corps during the postwar period.
