Treasure detail

Civil Sovereign in Sepia

Under Review

Description: The stamp features an exquisitely engraved portrait of King George VI facing forward, rendered entirely in a deep sepia or olive-brown ink. Based on a photograph by royal portrait studio Dorothy Wilding, the king is depicted in a traditional business suit, collar, and tie. The central design is surrounded by a structured rectangular double-line frame with decorative corner ornamentation. The country name "CANADA" is printed boldly in a stylized serif font across the upper center, directly supported underneath by the smaller bilingual identifiers "POSTES" and "POSTAGE". Nestled cleanly into the horizontally lined background frame in the lower left corner is the face value denomination "2¢".
