Canada Post Folk Songs

Under Review

Description: This philatelic assortment contains the complete 1993 commemorative release from Canada Post celebrating traditional Canadian folklore and folk music. The series features four distinct 43-cent domestic rate stamps, each highlighting a specific regional song: "My name is Dan Gold, an old bachelor I am" (Alberta Folksong), "Là y'a c'qui ont tous les jolis mots" (Chanson du Québec), "I'm the B'y that builds the boat" (Newfoundland Ditty), and "Tshishe-manitu" (Innu / Native Canadian Song). Each stamp is uniquely designed to integrate an illustrative painting of the song's subject matter alongside a banner displaying the musical staff and lyrics. The presentation includes a four-stamp souvenir pane block, a partial field sheet displaying corporate printer margins from Ashton-Potter Limited, and an official First Day of Issue souvenir cover postmarked from Fogo, Newfoundland.
