Canadian Regional Fire Service Identifiers

Under Review

Material: Cloth

Size: 75mm w x 15mm h

Description: This textile artifact features the name of a specific municipal district cleanly embroidered in all-capital block lettering. The machine-sewn white or cream-colored thread contrasts vividly against the dense black or dark navy blue backing fabric. The uniform lettering spans horizontally across the straight, rectangular cut strip, which is finished with raw edges meant for direct attachment onto an outer garment.

Circa: Mid to late 20th Century

Condition: Good

Notes:

This insignia identifies the emergency response department from the small community of New Hazelton, located along the Yellowhead Highway and the Skeena River valley. In Canadian public safety history, smaller rural or regional detachments often used simple, un-adorned word titles sewn onto heavy wool shirts or turnout coats before standardized multi-colored crests became common practice.
