Material: Cloth

Size: 70mm w x 25mm h

Description: This vintage military textile artifact is a horizontally oriented rectangular shoulder title patch designed for sew-on uniform application. Measuring exactly 70 millimeters in width by 25 millimeters in height, the insignia displays the nation's name, "CANADA", meticulously rendered in bold, uppercase block lettering. The text is executed in bright white or silver-gray thread using a dense, raised satin stitch technique that produces a distinct tactile texture. This crisp embroidery stands out vividly against a solid black, tightly woven twill fabric backing, which features straight-cut edge borders prepared for direct attachment to a service dress tunic or tactical uniform sleeve.

Circa: 1968-1995

Notes:

Following the 1968 unification of the Royal Canadian Navy, Canadian Army, and Royal Canadian Air Force into the unified Canadian Armed Forces, standardized nationality titles became a critical component of the newly introduced service dress uniforms.
