Canadian Expeditionary Force Infantry Shoulder Title

Under Review

Material: Brass (darkened, service patina)
Dimensions: 28mm (width) × 14mm (height)
Description: The front profile of this solid brass title features the bold, capitalized block letters "INF" arranged in a compact, overlapping horizontal layout where the letters are physically conjoined at the base. The surface displays a distinct multi-level stepped frame configuration, incorporating textured, pebbled recessed channels between the primary raised borders of the individual characters. The die-struck reverse is clearly stamped with the historic maker hallmark "Caron Bros. Montreal" and features two robust wire loop lugs meant to be secured directly onto service dress shoulder straps with a cotter pin.
Circa: 1914-1918
Notes:

Standard pattern shoulder title worn by members of the Canadian Expeditionary Force (CEF) during the First World War. The “INF” badge was worn above or alongside battalion numerals to denote infantry units within the CEF. Manufactured by Caron Bros., one of the principal Canadian badge suppliers of the Great War, based in Montreal, Quebec.
