Obverse: This vintage Canadian nickel coin displays the classic obverse of the famous 1971 Voyageur dollar issue. The design showcases the second official portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, beautifully sculpted by British artist Arnold Machin, where she is depicted wearing the historic George IV State Diadem. The right-facing royal effigy is framed by the abbreviated Latin inscription "ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA," translating to "Elizabeth II, by the Grace of God, Queen." A delicate beaded border runs along the rim to elegantly frame the entire numismatic composition.
Reverse: Depicts a voyageur and an Indigenous guide paddling a birchbark canoe with bundles of furs, stylized northern radiance above, inscription CANADA DOLLAR 1977. Designer: Emanuel Hahn.
