Diameter: 32.13 mm
Weight: 15.62 g
Mint / Mintmark: Royal Canadian Mint – Ottawa (no mintmark)
Obverse: Queen Elizabeth II, right-facing, legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA.
Reverse: Voyageur and Indigenous guide in birchbark canoe with northern lights, inscription CANADA DOLLAR 196x.
Circa: Mid 20th Century
Condition: Fine+ (clear detail, partial date loss from die abrasion or machine contact).
Notes:
Confirmed post 1968 Nickel dollar. The missing last digit likely results from die polishing or weak strike in the final numeral area or after minting damage. Not catalogued as a major mint error. The “HP” initials on the canoe bundle (for Humphrey Paget) remain sharp, confirming an authentic strike.
I am still unable to determine when and how this damage occurred. It is open to speculation and interest.
