Essex and Kent Scottish Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: White metal (Other Ranks issue)
Dimensions: 50 mm width × 70 mm height
Description: This beautifully voided, die-stamped white metal cap badge prominently features an ornate heraldic shield. The upper half of the shield depicts three traditional horizontal Saxon seaxes (notched short swords) representing Essex, while the lower half showcases the iconic rearing White Horse of Kent. The shield is completely framed by a stylized horseshoe scroll boldly inscribed with the title "THE ESSEX AND KENT SCOTTISH". A roaring lion's head marks the apex of the badge, while the base binds two detailed Scottish thistles together alongside a motto ribbon declaring "SEMPER PARATUS". The reverse side features a completely unmarked, high-relief hollow back seamlessly fitted with two factory-welded copper wire loops designed to slide into a traditional woolen glengarry or balmoral bonnet.
Circa: Introduced 1954, after the regiment's amalgamation
Notes:

Formed in 1954 from the amalgamation of The Essex Scottish Regiment and The Kent Regiment (Machine Gun), the regiment adopted this badge to unify both predecessor identities. The combined arms and Scottish thistle elements reflect that post-amalgamation character.
