Material: Gilt metal.
Size: 35 mm × 45 mm.
Description: This heavy-struck device was designed as the universal cap insignia worn by commissioned officers across the unified Canadian Armed Forces. The complex central crest displays a focal fouled anchor for the Navy, crossed swords for the Army, and an eagle with outspread wings representing the Air Force. This tri-service cluster sits directly over a detailed circular background layer ringed by a geometric border of stylized Canadian maple leaves. A prominent St. Edward's Crown rests squarely at the apex of the badge to acknowledge formal allegiance to the reigning British monarch. Reverse has slider marked WILLIAM SCULLY.
Circa: 1968-2026
Notes:
Introduced after the 1968 unification of the Canadian Forces, this smaller pattern was used for glengarry or similar cap wear. It remains one of the clearest symbols of the unified Canadian Armed Forces period.
