Canadian Armed Forces – Medical Branch Cap Badge

Under Review

Material: Brass or gilded base metal

Size: 38 mm × 55 mm

Description: The heavy, gilt-brass badge features an ornate oval shield showcasing a sculpted Rod of Asclepius with a single winding serpent set against a textured, deep red enameled background. A comprehensive wreath constructed from distinctively detailed Canadian maple leaves wraps completely around the central crest, culminating at the top in a brilliant, red-accented Queen's St. Edward's Crown.

Reverse: Brass slider marked W.SCULLY.

Circa: 1968–1990

Notes:

Medical personnel within the post-1968 unified Canadian Armed Forces wore this cap badge to identify their healthcare specialization across all service branches. The Medical Branch provided field support, base hospital services, and personnel medical care. Metal cap badges remained standard for formal dress through the 1970s and into the 1980s, before transition to embroidered cloth insignia.
