Material: Gilt brass
Size: 25 mm
Description: This official large-size tunic button represents the Corps of Royal Canadian Engineers (RCE). The convex front face features a highly detailed Royal Cypher of Queen Elizabeth II ("EIIR") cleanly centered within a traditional garter band. The garter is explicitly inscribed with the historic Anglo-Norman French motto of the Order of the Garter: "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE" (Shame on him who thinks evil of it). Running along the outer perimeter margin is the bold unit title "ROYAL CANADIAN ENGINEERS". The entire piece is crowned at the top by a majestic, raised St. Edward's (Queen's) Crown signifying the postwar Elizabethan period. The reverse side is cleanly back-marked with the dual manufacturing stamps: "J.R. GAUNT & SON LTD MONTREAL" and "MADE IN ENGLAND", completed by an integrated brass attachment shank loop.
