Material: Gilt Brass
Size: 27mm
Description: The item is an authentic Canadian Marine Service uniform jacket button, masterfully die-struck in high-grade gilding brass with a distinct convex face. The central field is dominated by a beautifully raised, highly detailed Queen's Crown (St. Edward's style), which represents the reigning British monarch as Canada's head of state. Encircling this royal centerpiece is a prominent, raised circular border enclosing the capitalized designation text "MARINE SERVICE" along the upper arc. The lower portion of the border contains the country name "CANADA", separated from the upper text by two clean, raised circular dots. The reverse side features a strong fixed wire attachment eyelet and is stamped with the clear, premium manufacturer backmark "J.R. GAUNT LONDON / MADE IN ENGLAND".
Circa: 1953-1960s
Notes:
Marine Service personnel supported Canada's maritime infrastructure through navigation aids, surveying, vessel operations, and lighthouse services. These functions later contributed to the development of the modern Canadian Coast Guard.
