Canadian General Service Button

Under Review

Material: Brass

Size: 25 mm

Description: This circular, high-dome military uniform button exhibits a prominently raised central garter medallion containing a detailed, multi-pointed Canadian maple leaf. The surrounding garter band is inscribed with the historic Anglo-Norman motto of the Order of the Garter, Honi Soit Qui Mal y Pense (meaning "Shame on him who thinks evil of it"). Directly surmounting the circular medallion is the classic Tudor Crown, commonly referred to as the King's Crown, which signifies direct organizational allegiance to the reigning British monarch. Sweeping elegantly along the upper rim, bold capitalized block letters spell out the country name "CANADA" to explicitly denote the nation of service. This large 25mm tunic variant features a brilliant fire-gilt finish over a sturdy brass base, retaining sharp, crisp highlights with minor surface wear. The reverse is stamped with the prestigious maker's mark of "J.R. Gaunt & Son London" and is equipped with a integrated heavy-gauge wire attachment loop.

Circa: 1901–1952
