Description: This historical artifact is a standard-issue General Service pattern uniform button produced for the Canadian Military Forces. The front design displays a prominent central maple leaf enclosed within a circular belt containing the Old French motto of the Order of the Garter: "HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE", which translates to "Shame on him who thinks evil of it." Positioned directly above the circular garter is the King's Crown (Tudor Crown), with the country name "CANADA" boldly curved along the top edge of the dome. The reverse side is stamped with the prestigious maker's mark of J.R. GAUNT & SON LONDON, confirming its British production for Canadian troops.
