Material: Gilt metal
Dimensions: 30 mm W × 32 mm H
Description: This oval-shaped collar badge features an intricately detailed double-headed eagle centered within a polished title band carrying the unit's historic designation. The imperial St. Edward’s Crown securely mounts the apex of the central motif, while a flowing presentation scroll loops elegantly across the bottom half to house the Latin regimental motto text. Nestled precisely at the lowest tip of the visual array is the numerical lineage designation "42" flanked by stylized, multi-petaled heraldic flowers.
Reverse: Plain gilt finish with dual clutch-back fasteners
Circa: 1959-1968
Notes:
The central double-headed eagle emblem is drawn directly from the personal coat of arms of the distinguished Scottish clan Shaw, recognizing the deep cultural ancestral links of early settlers in Lanark and Renfrew counties. The Latin phrase sweeping across the bottom banner reads "Fac Et Spera," translating to "Do and Hope," which served as the guiding ethos for troops during field operations. The numeric "42" at the base anchors the modern unit's original roots to the historic 42nd Brockville Battalion of Infantry, which was first raised back in 1866.
