Material: Gilt
Size: 30mm W x 27mm H
Description: The insignia is die-stamped in the distinct shape of a single multi-pointed Canadian maple leaf. Superimposed neatly at the center is a vertically positioned fouled naval anchor, which is directly surmounted by the St. Edward’s Crown, traditionally known as the Queen's Crown (QC). The reverse side of the badge features a smooth, unmarked finish equipped with dual sensory mounting pins secured by two vintage brass butterfly clutch fasteners.
Circa: Late 20th Century
Notes:
A gilt metal collar badge used by officers of the Canadian Armed Forces who instruct the Royal Canadian Sea Cadets.
While the regular RCN underwent major transformations between 1953 and 1968, the Cadet Instructor List (later known as the Cadet Instructors Cadre) used distinct branch-specific versions of this maple leaf collar insignia well after 1968. In fact, separate Sea, Land (crossed rifles), and Air (propeller/eagle) variations of these single maple leaf collar pins continued to be worn by cadet officers into the late 20th century to indicate their specific cadet element.
