Canadian Coat of Arms Cloth Badge

Under Review

Material: Embroidered cloth badge on khaki-brown backing.

Size: 60 mm w × 80 mm h.

Description: This artifact is an authentic, vintage Canadian Armed Forces rank patch designated for a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO), historically corresponding to a Warrant Officer Class I (WOI). The embroidered crest depicts the full Royal Coat of Arms of Canada. The detailed iconography features a central shield flanked by the English lion and Scottish unicorn holding banners, a golden lion crest atop a royal helm, and the national motto scroll reading "A MARI USQUE AD MARE" (From Sea to Sea) rendered in vibrant blue and yellow threads. Crowning the entire heraldic assembly is the Queen's Crown (St. Edward's Crown), indicating production and use during the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. The entire design is tightly embroidered onto a textured, khaki-brown wool melton cloth backing meant to match a standard service dress or combat uniform tunic.

Circa: 1953-1968

Notes: This badge presents the Canadian coat of arms in cloth form for uniform use. Its heraldic composition marks it clearly as a national emblem rather than a unit badge, and the Queen’s Crown places it in the Elizabeth II period.
