Canadian Navy Air Artificer Trade Patch

Under Review

Material: Embroidered cloth badge.

Size: 80 mm × 110 mm.

Description: This vintage uniform trade qualification insignia stands 110mm high by 80mm wide and utilizes deep blue embroidery against a stark white heavy cotton-twill canvas base. The upper portion displays a crisply embroidered Canadian maple leaf, the defining emblem of national military gear. Below the leaf, a complex trade monogram integrates an elongated letter "A" overlaid symmetrically atop a broader letter "M," with a single, small aircraft propeller centrally embedded at the crossbar intersection where the letters meet. The patch is cut into a classic rounded arch profile, specifically constructed to be worn on the upper shoulder sleeve of standard summer or tropical dress whites.

Circa: 1940s to 1968

Notes:

While the standard marine engineering patch uses a stylized nut or gear shape, this air branch variant proudly displays an airplane propeller to designate an "Air Artificer" (AT) rank. These senior Chief Petty Officers and Petty Officers were elite aviation fitters responsible for executing and supervising high-level technical mechanical overhauls on naval aircraft stationed at land facilities or serving aboard Canada's historic aircraft carriers like the HMCS Magnificent and HMCS Bonaventure.
