Material: White metal
Diameter / Size: 63mm (W) × 65mm (H)
Description: This authentic Canadian military insignia is intricately die-struck from a crisp white metal alloy. The complex composition layers a standard St. Andrew’s saltire cross behind a large, central Canadian maple leaf. Interlacing these elements is a prominent circular annulus carrying the raised regimental motto "CARRY ON". A secondary, inner annulus nestled squarely over the maple leaf is inscribed with the historic Great War battle sectors "BELGIUM FRANCE" and the service dates "1916-1919". The center features a detailed unicorn head emerging from a heraldic torse wreath. Wrapping around the outer flanks is a dense wreath woven completely from thistle flowers, bound at the top by a prominent "TORONTO" title scroll and at the base by a matching "SCOTTISH" scroll. The reverse side features a deep hollow strike equipped with its original dual mounting lugs and a prominent manufacturer stamp reading "R" just above the left fastening point.
Circa: While the regiment was officially formed in 1920, this specific white metal other ranks (O/Rs) pattern was manufactured and issued heavily from the late 1930s throughout the entire Second World War era.
Notes:
The stamped capital letter "R" on the reverse is a highly sought-after maker's mark designating production by Roden Bros. Ltd. of Toronto, a prestigious local silversmith contracted to strike durable field insignia for Canadian forces.
