Material: White metal
Size: 65mm w × 65mm h
Description: The item is an original Other Ranks (O/R's) dress cap badge worn on the headdress of The Highland Fusiliers of Canada. The insignia is struck from a thick white metal alloy with a slightly tarnished, naturally aged silver finish. The design is built upon the classic faceted Star of the Order of the Thistle, which is beautifully overlaid by a traditional ordnance flaming grenade (or bomb). The central round body of the grenade is deeply embossed with the stylized interlocking regimental monogram "HF". A highly contoured Queen's (St. Edward's) Crown surmounts the top of the fiery flames, while an elegant, clean scroll arches along the base inscribed with the word "CANADA". The unmarked reverse side features two heavy, original wire lugs oriented east-west to receive a cotter pin for rigid attachment to a standard glengarry, balmorals, or beret.
